NEW YORK – January 16, 2024 – iHeartPodcasts, the No. 1 podcast publisher globally according to Podtrac, together with MeatEater, America’s top brand in outdoor media and consumer products, today launched the new podcast, “God’s Country.” The weekly show will be hosted by top country music songwriters Dan and Reid Isbell and will focus on the intersection of country music and outdoor living. Fans can listen to the first episode now, here. Additionally, “God’s Country” will be featured as part of iHeartMedia’s “Podcast, meet Broadcast” initiative which will air the podcast as a broadcast special to millions of listeners Sunday evenings on select Country radio stations nationwide.

Each week, the Isbell Brothers, also known as “The Brothers Hunt,” will interview today’s biggest and most talented country stars and songwriters, drawing on their own passion for hunting and fishing to lead a thought-provoking and fun exploration of the fundamental role of outdoor living in country music. Upcoming guests include Luke Combs, Academy of Country Music's 2022 ‘Songwriter of the Year’ HARDY, singer/songwriter Josh Thompson, Grammy-Nominated songwriter Ben Hayslip, Grammy-Winning producer Jonathan Singleton and Grammy-Winning songwriter Casey Beathard, among others.

“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” said Dan and Reid Isbell. “Teaming up with iHeartPodcasts and MeatEater for ‘God’s Country’ seems like the perfect partnership to bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre-- a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”

The Isbell brothers hail from the hills and white oak hollers of Tennessee. As kids, they spent their days chasing whitetail deer and turkeys, and strumming guitars after the sun went down. After moving to Nashville and living on a boat for five years, they both landed professional careers as commercial songwriters -- and have written for some of the biggest names in country music including Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Scotty McCreery, Jon Pardi, Lainey Wilson, among many others.

“I met Dan and Reid Isbell on a Wyoming pronghorn hunt,” said MeatEater founder and Chief Creative Officer Steven Rinella. “I found them to be terrible hunting partners because they made me laugh so hard I couldn't focus. In all seriousness, these guys are dedicated outdoorsmen and skilled musicians. When we started conceptualizing a podcast that explored the intersection of country music and outdoor living, I knew that the Isbells had to host it. It's an honor to work with them.”

“We are excited to launch this co-produced podcast with MeatEater,” said Will Pearson, President of iHeartPodcasts. “‘God’s Country’ will offer a unique and refreshing perspective on how nature influences our day-to-day lives and shapes who we are. It is the perfect podcast for outdoor-minded listeners and country music lovers alike.”

“God’s Country” is a co-production of iHeartPodcasts and MeatEater, Inc. Beginning today, January 16, 2024, the show will be available on the iHeartRadio app, everywhere podcasts are heard, as well as on MeatEater’s YouTube channel. The series will also air across select iHeartMedia broadcast radio stations on Sundays between 7-11:30 p.m. local time on Country formats nationwide.
