Las Vegas, Nev., International Consumer Electronics Show – January 05, 2011 – Clear Channel Radio’s Total Traffic Network (TTN) today announced that it has launched a new platform with new features that will enhance the real-time traffic data service for consumers utilizing the service via broadcast, the Web, wirelessly and through navigation devices. Additionally, TTN has forged two new partnerships with Pioneer and Grupo Acir, expanding the reach of its service to broader audiences.
“As the navigation and traffic market continues to expand and demand the latest information, we are devoted to enhancing our state-of-the-art data services. With our improved platform and growing list of new partners, we’re continuing to provide the highest quality, most accurate traffic information to drivers on the road,” said Lance Locher, Senior Vice President of Total Traffic Network.
*New Platform = Enhanced Service and Features
Called TrafficNet 8.2, the newest version of TTN’s service includes a Billboard Routing Interface, which ties the platform with Clear Channel’s Total Out Of Home Network. Launched in February 2010, Total Out Of Home Network provides travel times and traffic information on Clear Channel Outdoor digital billboards across the country.
TTN has also integrated traffic camera images from live video feeds into the TrafficNet 8.2 system to give drivers the chance to view real-time traffic videos to determine the fastest, most efficient routes.
Additionally, TrafficNet 8.2 now features mass transit delay information in select local markets, including New York City, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., in addition to its normal highway traffic content for commuters who rely on trains and buses during their travels.
*New Partnerships = Expanded Reach
Joining TTN’s high-caliber list of partners are Pioneer Electronics and Grupo Acir Radio.
Pioneer has selected TTN's Traffic solution for the 2011 versions of its popular navigation devices – the AVIC-Z130BT and AVIC-X930BT. Via RDS-TMC (Radio Data System Traffic Message Channel), the service provides an overlay of real-time traffic events and conditions on the Pioneer unit navigation map. The Pioneer ND-TMC10 RDS-TMC tuner is included with the AVIC-Z130BT and is optional for the AVIC-X930BT.
TTN is also offering new traffic information solutions to Mexico City’s local information/service providers to help the metro area’s motorists navigate its heavily traveled road system. In association with Grupo Acir in Mexico, TTN has built out the capability to deliver traffic incidents and flow data to support an array of RDS-TMC-enabled devices and is supporting a mobile application on the country’s largest carrier. This Mexico City capability further enhances TTN’s position as the leading source of current traffic information.
“We’re proud to be recognized as a leading provider of real-time traffic and through the new partnerships with these leading companies and we are committed to helping commuters get to their final destination in the safest, most convenient way via radio, television, navigation devices, the Internet and digital billboards,” said Jeff Littlejohn, Executive Vice President of Distribution Development, Clear Channel Radio.
