Clear Channel Radio Partners With Zynga To Create Unique Farmville Experience For Lady Gaga Fans Around Launch Of New Album “Born This Way”
Partnership Powered by Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio Also Promoted Across 148 Clear Channel Radio Stations
On-Air/Online Experience Includes Exclusive Gaga Virtual Goods and Early Access to a Selection of Songs from the Album within FarmVille
New York, NY - May 10, 2011 - Clear Channel Radio, the leading media company in America with greater reach in the U.S. than any radio or television outlet, and Zynga, the world's largest social game developer, today announced a partnership to create a unique experience for players and Lady Gaga fans within FarmVille. Powered by Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio, select tracks from “Born This Way” will be available within FarmVille starting on May 17th, six days before the album is released on May 23rd.
From May 17th to May 26th, Lady Gaga will become a neighbor to the 46 million monthly players of FarmVille when Zynga launches "GagaVille," a neighboring farm within Zynga's popular social game, which will incorporate key themes and storylines of "Born This Way". Players who execute Gaga-themed quests in GagaVille will unlock the iHeartRadio player, enabling them to stream songs from “Born This Way” exclusively in FarmVille, which they will hear before anyone else. In addition, Lady Gaga will announce codes that unlock exclusive Lady Gaga-inspired limited edition virtual items on 148 Clear Channel stations on May 17th, including New York’s Z100 and LA’s KIIS-FM.
The partnership will be promoted across Clear Channel stations and on iHeartRadio, Clear Channel’s industry-leading digital radio service, which streams music from Clear Channel’s 750 digital radio stations from 150 cities as well as digital-only commercial-free stations.
“Partnering with Zynga to provide this incredible immersive music experience within FarmVille is another clear indication that Clear Channel is adding the social element to radio in ways no other company can,” said Bob Pittman, Chairman of Media and Entertainment Platforms at Clear Channel. “Radio has been Lady Gaga’s virtual stage from the very beginning, enabling fans to connect with her 24x7, and this is another extension of that stage. We are deeply invested in working with both platform partners and record labels to promote new music in creative ways that reach fans wherever they are, and most of all, we’re excited to partner with Zynga to give Lady Gaga fans who play FarmVille advance access to ‘Born This Way’, one of the most anticipated albums of the year.”
“Clear Channel is focused on delivering exciting music and entertainment experiences to fans wherever they are, and we have the same mission when it comes to social games: provide great experiences for every game, on every platform,” said Anders Klemmer, global director of media partnerships at Zynga. “That’s why they are the ideal partner to stream Lady Gaga’s new music exclusively to millions of players on FarmVille.”
