Billions Take To Social Media As iHeartRadio Music Festival Buzz Reaches New Heights
For Third Year in a Row, iHeartRadio Music Festival Garners More Social Media Impressions than Big Game Halftime Show
New York – Sept. 29, 2015 – iHeartMedia today shared the latest social media engagement data resulting from its iHeartRadio Music Festival, which took place in Las Vegas on September 18 and 19. This year’s festival generated a record 6.5 billion social media impressions, putting the iconic music event’s social activity ahead of the Big Game Half Time Show for the third consecutive year and neck and neck with the Academy Awards.
Twitter was the most popular platform for fans and viewers of this year’s event, comprising almost half the social activity surrounding the festival, resulting in #iHeartRadio trending worldwide, nationally and locally across more than 80 cities. After Twitter, Facebook and Instagram were the next platforms of choice for those joining the conversation around the event, comprising 30 percent and 20 percent (respectively) of the festival’s social activity, followed by Tumblr, Flickr and YouTube. Across these platforms, the top five artists who dominated the social chatter during the festival included Demi Lovato, Jennifer Lopez, Kanye West, Sam Smith and Coldplay.

Around 60 percent of social media users posting content around the festival were millennials ages 18-34, and 75 percent of social activity came from female users
